This full-time position includes teaching courses in History, Personal Finance, and Introduction to Business for students in Grades 9-12. The ideal candidate brings both subject-matter expertise and a passion for helping students build critical thinking, financial literacy, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience teaching History and/or Business-related subjects in grades 9-12. Strong foundation in economics, finance, and/or business concepts. Excellent organization, communication, and classroom management skills. Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum for diverse learners. Enthusiastic commitment to collaboration across departments and team-teaching models. Proficiency in educational technology and digital tools for instruction and assessment. Prior experience teaching Microeconomics, Personal Finance, or Introduction to Business is a strong plus.
Responsibilities:
Teach five sections across a combination of the following: History, Personal Finance, and Introduction to Business. Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lesson plans that connect historical, financial, and business concepts to students’ real-world experiences. Assess and monitor student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records. Collaborate with Upper School colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning and curriculum development. Foster open communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support academic growth and student well-being. Participate in ongoing professional development, department meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in History, Business, Economics, Education, or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching high school-level Social Studies or Business courses preferred. Familiarity with AP curriculum is a plus. Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and safety training is required.
