This position will be on-site 3-5 days a week
POSITION SUMMARY
The teacher supports students and families and instructs and manages courses in an online learning environment. Using school-approved platforms and instructional materials, the teacher presents the course objectives, conducts live class sessions, and facilitates learning through innovative teaching techniques. Educators work from home and UVA’s offices, and must travel throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing, open house, and graduation. The person in this role will work under all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the instructional program with synchronous web conferencing sessions and asynchronous instruction Completes and records grades on time, providing clear and constructive feedback for all student work Conducts parent/guardian conferences Develops and updates individual student schedules based on learning goals Provides students and parents with alternative learning strategies Communicates skillfully with parents, students, and staff Attends required meetings Collaborates with colleagues and the school’s learning community to monitor student data and make instructional decisions Takes part in professional development training Supports curriculum development and lesson creation Proctors state testing as directed Works under all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies Travels occasionally to support statewide mandated test administration and to participate in student-sponsored events. Performs all other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree Certified and qualified to teach the subject area in Louisiana
