Job Description:
Berkshire Community College is searching for adjunct faculty to teach Introduction to the Humanities. Student enrollment at Berkshire Community College has been steadily increasing, especially with the recent funding bills for Mass Reconnect and Mass Educate, providing many students with “Free Community College.” To meet the rising demand for courses, we are searching for adjuncts to join our pool of qualified instructors. As we add sections, we will pull from this pool to fill our course assignments. A teaching assignment is not guaranteed and will depend upon need, availability, and a successful interview. At this point, we are only searching for adjuncts who are available teach in person on our campus. Adjuncts in the Humanities, Behavioral, and Social Sciences Division provide classroom instruction to students seeking certificate and associate degrees. The ideal candidate is a collaborative colleague who enjoys sharing their enthusiasm, expertise, and experience in a student-centered learning environment and who appreciates the diversity of the community college population. For reference, please review this course description: An interdisciplinary introduction to the world of ideas and the creative process. Films, slides, music, readings, and guest lectures give students an insight into explorations of the creative mind through the arts–literary, dramatic, musical, and visual. Adjunct faculty members typically teach one or more course sections per semester, being responsible for instructional preparation, content presentation, learning activities, and student assessment. Guidance from experienced faculty members and administrators as well as professional development will be available. Adjunct faculty members are not required to advise students or to hold office hours.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in a Humanities discipline or closely related field required.
Must be available to teach in person either during the day or in the evening.
Teaching experience preferred.
Experience with online and hybrid teaching and active learning is appreciated.
