POSITION SUMMARY

 In keeping with a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the Career/Technical Education (CTE) Teacher is to help students learn required subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women; and to lead by example in abiding by employee code of conduct policies outlined in the staff handbook. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Meet and instruct assigned classes at the assigned school and at times designated by the principal.

Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.

Encourage students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.

Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved, including the implementation of electrical training equipment provide in the lab area.

Implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as assigned.

CTE TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

 Identify and report the possibility of learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education Level:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field. AA degree, with documented experience in a Construction/Electrical field can also apply toward certification.

Certification:

Hold an appropriate Mississippi Teaching Credential or valid emergency certification issued by the state of

Mississippi Educational BoardOther Requirements:

As required for the CTE component of the position,Obtain certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).Guide students through NCCER approved training.

Prepare students to obtain NCCER certification through training.

Document accomplishment of Career/Technical Education curriculum objectives throughout the school year through use of the PULSE planning and assessment system as directed by the Research and Curriculum Unit at Mississippi State University and the Mississippi Department of Education.

Participate and Sponsor the required Construction Skills Club, which is a CTE program requirement.
