Job Summary The incumbent is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in history and specialized topics depending on expertise. The instructor will engage students through dynamic instruction, assessment, and active support of student learning. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of historical concepts, theories, and methodologies.
Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate learning styles.
Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to assess student learning and provide constructive feedback. Essential Job Functions Prepare and deliver engaging and academically rigorous lectures in history.
Develop course materials, including syllabi, assignments, exams, and supplementary resources.
Evaluate and grade students’ classwork, assignments, and papers.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students.
Hold regular office hours (in-person or virtual) to support students outside class.
Comply with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
Attend required training and departmental meetings, as applicable.
Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain currency in the field. Qualifications Earned PhD in History from an accredited institution.
At least one year of teaching experience at the college or university level.
Experience with online and/or hybrid course delivery is highly desirable. Licensing and Certifications If applicable.
