QUESTIONS Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a Part-Time Economics Instructor. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Interested applicants must attach to their application an unofficial copy of their post-secondary transcript reflecting master’s degree completion and/or master’s degree work with at least 18 credit hours in Economics.

Duties include:

Teach economics courses as assigned by the department chair and approved by the division dean.
Design and implement instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.
Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved student learning outcomes.
Maintain and submit all required college records including attendance and grade reports, etc.
Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
Measure and report required student learning outcomes
Assist students in receiving needed instructional resources
Maintain, review, and update course content, learning outcomes, and course syllabi
Recommend course textbooks, supplies, equipment, and equipment repairs.
Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the program(s) in the area of expertise.
Utilize student learning outcomes assessment results to improve courses/program.
Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
Keep abreast of current technology.
Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the college and the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

A business-related master’s degree from an accredited school including 18 graduate credit hours in economics. Prefer experience in teaching on-line courses as well as traditional seated classes at the community college level or higher and experience with a learning management system. Demonstration of skills in the areas of communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, and others; and demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment. Availability to teach both face to face and online economics and business courses along with the ability accommodate a flexible working schedule and limited travel within service area.
