Full Job Description Summary Statement:
CDS recognizes and affirms the ministry of teaching as a God-ordained vocation. Although teachers may not be “officially ordained” by a commonly known or recognized religious order, they are essential and full-time ministers of the Christian faith, the CDS Statement of Faith, and the educational philosophy and objectives of Calvary Day School to students, faculty, and co-workers. This document provides a framework of qualifications, duties, and responsibilities to assure the orderly operation of an exemplary program at Calvary Day School. The teacher will prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Spiritual – The teacher shall: seek to be a role model in attitude, speech and actions with a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ. show by example the importance of Scripture study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship. follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration. motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith. lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ. Core Expectations for Teachers at Calvary Day School Spiritual & Philosophical Integration Infuse Biblical principles and Christian philosophy into all subjects. Maintain a Godly lifestyle as a Christian role model both publicly and privately. Refrain from gossip; resolve issues using Biblical principles. Professional Conduct & Collaboration Support and implement all school policies, procedures, and directives. Maintain a positive, respectful attitude toward students, parents, colleagues, and administrators. Cooperate with the administration and attend required meetings, including planning sessions and enrichment discussions. Communication Maintain open and consistent communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities. Notify the divisional principal with any policy-related concerns. Instructional Planning & Execution Develop and maintain short and long-term lesson plans, recorded in Curriculum Trak. Submit lesson plans as directed. Use homework as an effective tool for reinforcement, enrichment, or project development. Classroom & Student Management Maintain discipline and order throughout the school day—in the classroom, halls, bathrooms, lunchroom, and playground. Keep the classroom neat and organized to model respect for school property. Take responsibility for the lunchroom, playground, and after-school supervision as needed. Administrative Responsibilities Arrive prior to student arrival; remain on duty per assigned hours.
Keep accurate records:
attendance, lunch count, grades, and receipts for approved expenses. Monitor and request supplies as needed through the appropriate process. Student Support & Confidentiality Keep students and parents informed of academic progress and deficiencies. Provide ample warning to students/parents about potential failure. Protect student privacy and handle confidential information with discretion. Be attentive and responsive to individual student needs. Professional Growth Participate in workshops or training opportunities to enhance classroom effectiveness. Additional Duties Be available before and after the school year as per the academic calendar. Perform additional duties as assigned by administration. Child Protection Report any suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or maltreatment to the appropriate authorities, as required by North Carolina law. All expectations outlined in the Faculty & Staff Handbook and any supplemental handbooks mustbe adhered to per the handbook(s).

Standard ACSI certification should be obtained within 5 years of employment at CDS.
