RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Seek to role model in attitude, speech, and action a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities Collaborate in developing a program of continuous progress consistent with Grace Christian School’s mission, goals and objectives to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students Create a classroom environment that is safe, conducive to learning, and encourages students to take risks in their learning Employ instructional methods and materials that appropriately guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals Assess student learning, through observations, authentic performance, and more formal methods, in an ongoing manner, providing frequent student feedback, information to parents and written progress reports Communicate learning objectives with parents and students Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides(s) and/or volunteers and evaluate their performance Provide adequate plans for substitute teachers and evaluate their performance. Seek the cooperation and assistance of parents through oral or written communication Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school constituency and the general public Develop and maintain a rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and to properly care for all property, equipment, materials, and facilities Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules Demonstrate punctuality and responsibility in performing all duties and activities as assigned Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning Participate in professional development programs as assigned by the Director of Academics or the Principal Attend staff meetings, serves on staff committees as requested, and accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular or other activities as assigned by the Principal or Director of Academics Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy Willingly perform other related duties as required/assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the NC Department of Instruction or ACSI 2+ years classroom experience preferred Knowledgeable of best practices, expected grade level development/content milestones Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology He/She shall be a person who exhibits and/or desires spiritual understanding in academic and leadership abilities that will allow him/her to “train up a child in the way he should go.”
