Sixth Grade Social Studies Teacher Edgewater School District 251 Undercliff Avenue, Edgewater, NJ 07020 Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive learning environment and engaging students in the exploration of historical, geographical, and cultural concepts. This role requires a commitment to student development and the ability to implement effective teaching strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and promote critical thinking. Utilize various teaching methods and learning technologies to enhance student engagement and understanding of social studies topics. Assess student progress through regular evaluations, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth. Mentor and tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce classroom learning and address specific needs. Collaborate with colleagues in education administration to develop curricula that meet the educational goals of the institution. Maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters respect among peers. Stay current with educational trends, best practices, and advancements in childhood development to continually improve teaching effectiveness. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, with a focus on Social Studies preferred. Strong knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning techniques. Experience in classroom management with the ability to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. Proficiency in utilizing learning technology tools to enhance instructional delivery. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff. Prior experience in mentoring or tutoring is highly desirable.
