1.0 Social Studies Teacher – contract
Anticipated Assignment Dates:
2025-2026 School Year (August 2025 Start date)
Summary:
To facilitate students learning the designated subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women; motivate and establish effective rapport with students; establish good relationships with parents and colleagues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach the district-approved curriculum
Provide diagnostic, evaluative, interpretive services for individual and incoming students
Provide reading orientation and guidance for staff members
Conduct needs analysis, design and implement reading programs that are developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs and abilities of students
Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of students
Guide, monitor and assess the learning process toward the achievement of goals
Maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques
Confer with students, parents, school counselors and administrators to resolve student problems
Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members, including classroom teachers to improve reading instruction Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications/Certifications:
Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
Required:
Required certification for content area (Social Studies 7-12, Middle Level Social Studies)
