Job Summary Located in Northeast Tennessee between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains, East Tennessee State University is a state-assisted and Carnegie-classified Doctoral Research Intensive University of more than 15,000 students. It is a regional institution, serving east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and Western North Carolina. The area enjoys a moderate climate and is well known for recreational opportunities like camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, rafting, fishing, and golfing, as well as for its many festivals, including Rhythm and Roots, Corazon Latino, Umoja, Little Chicago, Blue Plum, and Tri Pride. The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University seeks qualified instructors to fill part-time positions teaching Japanese. The department offers both a major concentration and a minor in Japanese. The successful candidates’ primary duties will be to teach beginning and/or intermediate courses in Japanese (1000- and 2000-level). These are temporary positions, filled on a semester-by-semester basis with some opportunity for renewal; positions do not include benefits. The value of employment at ETSU goes far beyond salary.
