The Department of Asian Societies, Cultures and Languages at Dartmouth College seeks to appoint a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer in Korean for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Applicants for this position should be specialists in Korean language pedagogy who are prepared to teach courses in Korean language at the introductory level. The elementary language sequence at Dartmouth consists of instructor-led classes enhanced by additional small-group practice sessions led by undergraduate Apprentice Teachers (AT) who work closely with the instructor. The duties of this Lecturer position include hiring, training, and supervising Apprentice Teachers and preparing materials for them to use in those sessions.
This one-year position is non-remote, in-residence at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, with a start date of September 1, 2025. The appointed lecturer will teach six courses, two per quarter, during Dartmouth’s fall 2025, winter 2026, and spring 2026 quarters (each quarter is 10 weeks long). This position comes with a competitive salary and benefits.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have at least an M.A. in Korean language pedagogy, Korean (applied) linguistics, Korean language and cultural studies, second language acquisition with an emphasis in Korean, or a closely related field. The degree must be completed by the start date. This position is not eligible for H1-B sponsorship, but we are able to provide J-1 sponsorship for eligible candidates.
