Part Time Position Summary:

Student Teaching Scholars are assigned to a doctrinal course to assist students in the learning and understanding of the course material. Teaching Scholars provide reviews of class material, assist the professor with class preparation and assessment, and host office hours for student engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides at least five review sessions throughout the term. Communicate effectively and timely with the doctrinal professor and students. Develop assessment tools and review materials under the supervision of the doctrinal professor to provide students with an opportunity to gauge their understanding. Assist students with their doctrinal understanding through discussion and review of class material. Attend classes as directed by the professor. Provide meaningful opportunity for practical application of analytical skills. Review and provide comments on students’ work as directed by the professor. Hold office hours weekly to assist students individually as needed. Provide guidance on study habits, course supplements, outlining material and other general study information. Maintain confidentiality concerning student performance, grading, or personal information of students except where university policy requires reporting. Report any concerns about student safety, health or welfare to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Academic Success. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Education/Experience:

Must be a current second- or third-year law student at Campbell School of Law in good academic standing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the assigned doctrinal course content. Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and law school administration. Superior interpersonal, writing and proofreading skills. Excellent oral presentation skills. Excellent organizational skills. Sound judgment. Diplomacy. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Must possess exceptional computer skills including the utilization of various web-based databases, virtual meeting software and social media tools, as well as the general operation of the following software programs: Microsoft Access, Adobe Professional, Blackboard, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook.
