Full Job Description Overview:
The Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology is hiring an Academic Director & Full-Time Faculty member and is approved by the New York State Education Department and is an ASHA certified program. It offers a 58 credit Master’s degree program. Faculty members are involved in teaching, scholarly activities and service to the institution and the community.
Responsibilities:
In addition to the traditional duties of the full-time faculty listed below, the director will: Assist the Director/Department Chair with administrative responsibilities including generating reports, budget submission, admissions coordination, scheduling of academic classes/calendar, participation in peer reviews, and oversight of student issues and files. Support program events such as open houses and collaborate with the program recruiter. Teach two courses per semester (with release time from one course). Prepare syllabi, course outlines and assign texts. Advise students, maintain completed advisement sheets and submit any remediation forms as appropriate. Participate in scholarly activities such as research, publications, presentation, and grant writing. Engage in Service by participating in program and University committees and meetings. Perform clinical teaching and supervision if applicable to program needs. Complete special projects as designated by the Director/Department Chair. Assist with the annual report at the end of the academic year and work closely on ASHA reports and state submissions. Mentor students on research projects when appropriate. Assist in the development of online courses as needed. Oversee new program initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience PhD (preferred) or other doctoral equivalent in Speech Pathology or a related field from an accredited university. ABA will be considered. ASHA certification Eligibility for State licensure Knowledge and experience in Adult Communications and Swallowing Disorders is a plus. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. Ability to take direction & handle tasks independently, as needed. Ability to work independently and initiate programmatic innovations. Ability to effectively teach a variety of subject matters. Strong prioritization and writing skills., Ability to handle student issues. Familiarity of ASHA and State requirements.
Maximum Salary:
USD $115,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary:
USD $92,000.00/Yr.
