School Librarian / Media Specialist 2.7 2.7 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL 32303 The School Librarian / Media Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and promoting a dynamic library and media center that supports the academic curriculum, fosters a love for reading, and enhances digital literacy among students and staff. This role combines traditional library duties with technology integration and instructional support.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the library’s collection of books, digital resources, and media equipment. Assist students and staff in locating and using information effectively. Promote a culture of reading through book talks, displays, and reading programs. Collaborate with teachers to integrate research and media literacy skills into classroom instruction. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging library environment for all students. Provide training and support for students and staff in the use of educational technology and digital tools. Maintain accurate circulation and inventory records. Stay current with trends in library science, educational media, and instructional technology.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred). Florida educator certification in Educational Media Specialist (or ability to obtain). Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of children’s and young adult literature. Familiarity with library software systems and digital media resources Skills Proficient in classroom management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
