JOB SUMMARY
Miami Country DaySchool seeks a dynamic Director of Library Services to lead andmanage our PK3-12 library program. This individual will providestrategic direction, cultivate cross-divisional collaboration, andoversee the daily operations of the school’s libraries. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS
Strategic Leadership ⪻ogram Oversight Develops and leads a cohesive, developmentally appropriatelibrary program across all grade levels (PK3-12). Collaborates with school leadership to align library serviceswith academic goals and ensure the delivery of an age-appropriateresearch and information literacy curriculum. Oversees daily operations including staffing, budgeting,scheduling, purchasing, and vendor relations. Advocates for library resources and foster a culture ofinquiry, literacy, and collaboration throughout theschool.
Curricular Integration & Instructional Support Partners with faculty and division directors to integrateresearch and information literacy into the curriculum. Guides the selection and timely adoption of instructional andlibrary materials to support evolving academic needs. Evaluates and manage educational technology applications foracademic merit and data privacy in collaboration with the CIO. Provides professional development and ongoing support forfaculty and students in the use of approved ed tech tools.
ResourceManagement & Procurement Oversees the selection, procurement, and renewal of print anddigital instructional resources. Serves as the liaison between faculty and textbook vendors,managing contracts, subscriptions, and communications. Ensures timely distribution of course materials and provideuser support for account setup and resource navigation. Tracks usage data to inform purchasing decisions and ensureeffective, timely delivery of materials.
Team Leadership &Communication Supervises and support the library team through clearcommunication, collaboration, and ongoing professionaldevelopment. Manages recruitment, evaluations, and goal-setting for thelibrary staff. Communicates regularly with students, faculty, and parents toensure awareness and engagement with libraryofferings.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
M.L.S., M.L.I.S., or equivalent certification from anaccredited program. Minimum of 3-5 years of school library experience, preferablyin an elementary and/or middle school setting Strong knowledge of children’s and young adult literature.
Familiarity with library management systems, digital databases, ande-resource platforms. Demonstrated ability to integrate literacy skills and researchmodels into school curricula, especially with project-basedlearning. Proficiency with a wide range of instructional technologies.
Strong commitment to customer service and support. Excellentcommunication, organization, and leadership skills. Strong organizational skills Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiplepriorities, including short-term and long-term projects, in adynamic educational environment.
