Full Job Description Job Summary:

Short-Term School Media Specialist We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable School Media Specialist for a short-term assignment to help organize and optimize our Library Media Center. The ideal candidate will have experience in library science, media resources, and educational support, and will work collaboratively with school staff to ensure the library is a well-organized, accessible, and engaging space for students and teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and reorganize the current library collection for optimal accessibility and usability. Catalog and classify books, digital media, and other resources using appropriate systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal Classification). Weed outdated or damaged materials and recommend new acquisitions. Create an inviting and functional layout for the library space. Implement or update digital cataloging systems and train staff on usage if needed. Develop basic guides or signage to help students and staff navigate the library. Ensure compliance with school and district policies regarding media resources.

Qualifications:

Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (preferred). Prior experience in a school library or media center setting. Familiarity with library management systems and cataloging standards. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and efficiently within a limited timeframe.
