GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of a Librarian of a higher classification, performs general librarian duties or assists in the performance of specialized duties. Work involves the application of professional library techniques and procedures to a variety of library operations at Main or in branch libraries. Employees of this class are expected to use acquired knowledge and skills in the performance of technical library work. General supervision may be exercised over a small group of clerical and paraprofessional employees. Librarians are allowed latitude in the performance of their professional duties. Work is reviewed through personal conferences, written reports and results obtained. Performs other work as requested.

Note:

Some employees within this classification are hired on a part-time basis and paid at an hourly rate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree from an accredited school of library and information science.
