Statement of the job: The University of Maine at Augusta is looking for an Instruction & Outreach Librarian to join our Bangor Campus. The primary purpose of the position is to help effectively maintain distance and in-person library services for students, staff, and faculty. The position also exists to serve the UMA community in copyright law knowledge as well as assisting the UMA community with creating accessible public-facing content. Additionally, the position leads Nottage Library student employees, UMA Libraries’ marketing, design, and outreach projects, and provides design consultation and training services to the entire Academic Services Unit. Qualifications Required:

Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program (or non-U.S. equivalent) and one year of relevant service in libraries Strong commitment to serving distance library users and willingness to advocate for their needs
Demonstrated familiarity with AI tools and emerging AI technologies
Familiarity with the principles of Universal Design for Learning and willingness to apply them in the design of learning objects, instruction sessions, and workshops
Ability to use and explain a wide variety of library-related software applications including the library management system, common Google Suite for Education applications, research databases, chat/email “Ask-a-Librarian” software, and

Microsoft Office Suite Preferred:

Experience working in academic libraries
Extensive computer skills, including web applications
Demonstrated experience with instructional design
Experience working with adult learners
Participate in professional and scholarly organizations

Salary:

The normal hiring salary for this position is in the low to mid 50’s and is commensurate with training, education, and experience and will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion.
