Summary of Job Duties:

The User Services Stacks Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the library opens reliably and on time. Key responsibilities include conducting security rounds and checking book drops. This position works closely with the supervisor to prioritize important projects related to the stacks, such as shelving, shelf reading, and transferring collections, all aimed at improving space and accessibility. In addition, the specialist communicates with library liaisons about lost items and manages urgent requests, holds, and recalls in collaboration with other User Services supervisors. This position is responsible for processing and placing hold requests and resource-sharing items into pick-up lockers. Additionally, the specialist provides back-up support to the User Services Help Desk. This position reports to the Stacks and Spaces Coordinator.
This position is expected to report to campus and provide on-site library services during inclement weather events in accordance with Mullins Library’s Inclement Weather Policy.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications. At least two years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Two or more years of previous experience working in academic or public libraries in a public service role
Experience with Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo Integrated Library System

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Aptitude to work in a complex setting and work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong customer service skills
Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Demonstrated attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and meet expected deadlines, use judgment and analytical skills for problem-solving, and seek consultation when appropriate
Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment
