Job #995-1 Rowan Public Library Headquarters Open Until Filled Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. Rowan County is made up of more than 20 departments and nearly 1,250 employees that are committed to providing a wealth of services to County residents and businesses. The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Librarian II. This position is based out of RPL Headquarters (Salisbury), participates in lead librarian duty rotation, and works at the HQ reference desk. This position may oversee the daily operations and staff of a specific division. The position performs multifaced professional library work at a Librarian II level; directs staff projects and assignments; provides personal assistance to users in pursuit of information; plans and conducts branch programs; identifies, initiates and develops community partnership opportunities; determines user needs and assists in developing ways to improve branch services; assists with collection maintenance; and performs related duties as assigned; evening and weekend work required. Must be enthusiastic, customer-driven, solution-focused, and team centered. Requires considerable knowledge of library principles, practices, procedures, and resources; advanced knowledge of the principles and methods of modern professional library work in assigned areas including customer experience, reference work, circulation, classification, and cataloging, and the American Library Association’s Core Competencies of Librarianship and Library Bill of Rights ; ability to operate computers, smart devices, projectors, and other standard library equipment and software as productivity, presentation, teaching, and research tools; ability to assist users in the use of computers, personal devices, and related software; and the ability to exercise initiative and judgement in development and implementation of division/branch short- and long- term plans. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Library Science and/or Information Science or equivalent combination of education and experience; ALA accredited degree preferred. All degrees/Coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience working with the public in a library and North Carolina Public Library Certification eligibility preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Starting Salary $54,600 – $60,000 (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package available. Apply online at .
