Your Opportunity
This position performs descriptive cataloging on a broad range and depth of formats, including print, visual, audio and digital resources. As a GOBI cataloger, you perform copy cataloging and create metadata records following RDA standards and customer specifications to support material supplied by the Library Technical Services department for purchased content, at our headquarters in Contoocook, NH
What You’ll Do
Verifies the validity of Library of Congress Subject Headings and appropriate sub-headings, as well as Library of Congress Classification and cutter numbers found in cataloging copy
Verifies the validity of Dewey Decimal Classification found in cataloging copy
Assigns library-specific cuttering and shelflisting as required
Upgrades LC CIP records in MARC (or other metadata format) following RDA and Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements
Searches
OCLC, LC
catalog and authorities, and customer online catalogs as necessary
Performs initial search and sort of newly received approval books to support customer Approval plans

About You
0-2 years of Cataloging experience in a library or library service provider setting.
0-2 years’ experience with MS Word and/or Excel.
Editing experience or other experience requiring strong attention to detail
Familiarity with RDA and MARC metadata standards and library best practices.
