Job Description
Adult/Teen Services Coordinator LaGrange Association Library 1110 Route 55, Lagrangeville, NY 12540 LaGrange Association Library Full-Time Adult/Teen Services Coordinator The Library seeks a creative, enthusiastic, experienced individual to plan, implement, and oversee a variety of programs and services tailored to meet the cultural, recreational, and informational needs of adults and teen patrons, ages 13 and up. This role includes creating, coordinating, and publicizing events, conducting outreach, managing parts of the collection, and providing information and reader’s advisory services at the public service desk. The Coordinator works collaboratively with other library staff to enhance user experience and ensure the library is a welcoming, inclusive space for the community. Under the direct supervision of the Library Director, the Adult/Teen Services Coordinator is responsible for:
Programming :
o Design, develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of programs and services for adult and teen patrons, including book clubs, educational workshops, recreational activities, and cultural events o Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to develop partnerships and co-sponsor events o Active participation in events and programs, including setting up/cleaning up rooms and arranging materials
Collection Management:
o Select, acquire, and manage library materials for parts of the adult and teen fiction collections, ensuring a diverse and relevant selection that meets the community’s needs o Conduct regular assessments and weeding of the collections to maintain current, popular resources, as well as classics o Stay informed about current trends and best practices in library services and literature for adults and teens
Patron Services:
o Assist patrons at the checkout desk, including placing holds, providing information, and reader’s advisory services o Assist patrons with the use of library resources, including electronic databases, e-books, and other digital tools o Handle patron concerns and feedback, ensuring a positive and inclusive library experience
Outreach and Community Engagement:
o Maintain the Library’s social media presence and work with the Youth Services Coordinator and Webmaster to promote all library programs on Facebook and Instagram, in the monthly e-newsletter, and on the website o Conduct outreach activities to promote library services and programs to adults and teens in the community o Develop and maintain relationships with the local schools, community organizations, and other partners o Represent the library at community events, meetings, and other public engagements
Administrative Duties:
o Prudently manage budgets for adult and teen programs and collections o Prepare reports and maintain records related to program attendance, collection usage, and other relevant statistics to be provided to the Library Director o Together with the Library Director, design and prepare content for the monthly electronic newsletter using Constant Contact o Identify and apply for grants to enhance materials, programs, and services to teens and/or adults
Professional Development:
o Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with trends and advancements in library services and programming o Attend workshops, conferences, and other training sessions as required
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Library Science, English or Communications or closely related field and 2 or more years of experience in a library setting or performing duties related to the oversight, coordination, and administration of programs for adults and/or teenagers. OR An Associate’s Degree in Education, Library Science, English or Communications or closely related field and 3 or more years of experience in a library setting or performing duties related to the oversight, coordination and administration of programs for adults and/or teenagers. AND o Strong organizational and project management skills o Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills o Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, social media, technology, and Canva for program marketing, promotion and community engagement o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment o Creative thinking, initiative, and problem-solving abilities
Highly Desirable:
o Artistic skills, such as painting, sewing, or fiber arts
Hours:
37.5 per week, including evening and weekend hours as necessary to accommodate programs and events.
Salary & Benefits:
$21 per hour; paid vacation, sick, personal, and flex days, health insurance, and employee assistance program.
