TITLE IX Research and Instruction Librarian The James H. Thomason Library invites applications for a dynamic, proactive, and collaborative Research and Instruction Librarian to join our team of dedicated staff. This is a full-time administrative exempt position of 37.5 hours per week with a regular schedule of Sunday-Thursday, 10:30 am-7:00 pm. The schedule will be adjusted during academic breaks, summer terms, and, on occasion, during the academic year. ing to the Library Director, the Research and Instruction Librarian provides research assistance and library instruction to all undergraduate and graduate departments on campus, including the First-Year Exploration program, participates in student and faculty outreach efforts, assists with the library’s assessment program, and maintains online library research tools.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide in-person and virtual research assistance to students and faculty, including individual research appointments.
Design and deliver individually tailored library instruction classes in a variety of disciplines.
Develop and maintain research guides, tutorials, and other instructional materials in both and electronic format.
Participate in the general promotion of library resources and services to students, faculty, and other College employees.
Administer the library’s assessment program for instruction and research services.
Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and staff in support of the library instruction program and research help services in particular and the library’s goals overall.
Participate in collection development activities, assisting in the selection of electronic and library resources and coordinating the promotion of new additions.
Coordinate and contribute to the library’s social media presence.
Stay abreast of campus curricular trends as they relate to faculty and student research needs.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Engage in library planning, program development, and special projects.
Assist patrons using library-furnishedputer equipment with basic hardware and software functions.
Supervise library student workers when applicable.
Assist with developing and maintaining the library .
Maintain awareness of emerging trends and technologies in library instruction and research services.
Any new duties as determined by the evolution of the position.
Required Qualifications:
An MLIS, MLS, or the equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program.
Strongmitment to customer service, information literacy, and support of the academic needs of students and faculty.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in an academic setting, with excellentmunication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility and creativity coupled with an ability to take initiative and be self-directed.
Stronganizational, project, and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects andpeting priorities.
Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a respectful, equitable, and inclusive way.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience in an academic library, including research assistance, formal teaching or training, and program assessment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and its application to library instruction.
Experience using Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE, Spring software suite, and Camtasia or aparable screen recording and video editing software.
Willingness to perform additional inter-departmental tasks as needed.
