Job Summary ETSU’s Sherrod Library is seeking an Education and Social Sciences Librarian. This 12-month, continuing (non-tenured) faculty position partners with university faculty in education and social sciences disciplines to promote information and data literacy through instruction, creation of resources (such as tutorials and LibGuides), and research services support.
Reporting to the Director of Academic Research Services, the librarian contributes to a collaborative team environment and plays an active role on the Research Services team. Responsibilities also include providing general research assistance and working to enhance user experience and engagement. Standard work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Work schedules may be adjusted with the approval of the Director of Academic Research Services. Knowledge of current web, instructional, and productivity technologies (e.g., LibGuides, Zoom, Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of citation managers including Zotero, Mendeley, and Endnote.
Demonstrated communication skills; verbal/oral and writing.
Demonstrated skills in interdisciplinary services including research methods and data services.
Ability to develop, implement, and manage library programs and services.
Ability to support literature review activities including meta-analyses and systematic reviews.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with colleagues, faculty, students, staff, and university stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to work closely and effectively with students, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Ability to design and deliver workshops or one-on-one consultations on education, social sciences, and research methods Required Qualifications Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited program, or equivalent degree if earned outside the U.S. or Canada.
Experience searching relevant databases.
Experience in providing in-person or online reference services and instruction.
Experience with current web, instructional, and productivity technologies (LibGuides, Zoom, Micrsoft Office, Generative AI, Excel). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited program in Education or a Social Sciences discipline.
Experience in data services management or Open Science.
Experience using digital tools in support of quantitative or qualitative research. Salary $59,000
