Library Technical Assistant
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Lowell Correctional Institution in the Education Department. The mission of the Library Technical Assistants at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to support the educational and rehabilitative efforts of the institution by providing inmates with access to a variety of informational, educational, and recreational reading materials. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES

Processes inmate requests and grievances related to general and law library services, ensuring timely responses and availability of the library for a minimum of 25 hours per week.
Supervises and assigns research duties to inmate clerks and aides, monitors their activities, evaluates their performance for gain time review, and initiates disciplinary actions as needed.
Monitors the check-out and return of library materials, interlibrary loan processing, and use of the copy machine, ensuring accuracy of records.
Performs photocopying, maintains inventory of supplies, and manages library resources in accordance with rules and statutes.
