PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS
Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. View Policy Position Summary:
The Head of Library Systems and Collections plans, manages, supports and evaluates the Library’s technical services functions, ensuring that information is discoverable and accessible by all university students and personnel. In addition, this position supervises the library’s Collection Development Librarian and provides systems administration support for both locally-hosted and external cloud environments.
Minimum Qualifications :
MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution Experience with library enterprise systems, such as OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services & OpenAthens Demonstrated knowledge of cataloging, including Resource Description and Access (RDA), Library of Congress Subject Headings, Library of Congress Classification System, and MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data Flexibility and initiative to work in a dynamic small library environment with a strong student-centric service orientation Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment, be self-motivated, and prioritize work Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing Commitment to professional development and university service Pre-MLIS library technical services work experience acceptable

Systems and E-Resource Management:
Administer and configure the library services platform, including modules for administration, circulation, acquisitions, metadata, and analytics Administer other library systems, including OpenAthens, Springshare applications, and others Configure and troubleshoot problems with electronic subscription resources, communicating with vendors and GALILEO consortium staff as necessary Process electronic theses and dissertations from Brenau University graduate students, ensuring the submission of all required components and compliance with copyright law Serve as library webmaster, coordinating design and maintenance of the library’s web page with colleagues and the Office of Marketing & Communications Coordinate support from university IT staff as needed for library systems
Cataloging:
Perform original cataloging and complex copy cataloging, maintaining trends in bibliographic control Oversee inventory of library collections and the correction of any problems that arise
Statistics:
Collect, maintain, and share relevant statistics pertaining to usage of library collections and services Assist in the preparation of reports for accrediting organizations and other higher education surveys Use a variety of software tools to extract and manipulate data from diverse sources
Other:
Supervise collection development librarian Develop, revise, and implement library procedures and policies in all areas pertaining to technical services and collection development Communicate with library colleagues regarding system and resource functionality, updates, problems, etc. Other responsibilities as assigned

Work Hours & Schedule:
Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Some repetitive motion.
