AMHERST Part-Time Library Technician – Branch Libraries The JonesLibrary System seeks a creative and energetic Library Technician to workpart-time at our North Amherst and Munson Memorial Library branches. Ifyou are an individual who enjoys work that supports and strengthens thecommunity; who is committed to providing excellent customer service; andis excited about opportunities to provide educational and recreationalservices to library visitors, APPLY NOW! This is a part-time position(19.5 hours per week). The schedule for this position is Monday3:00-7:30, Wednesday 1:45-7:30, Friday 9:30-2:00, and Saturday 8:30-1:15at both the North Amherst and Munson Memorial Library branches. Thesalary range is from $15.76 to $21.18 in 11 steps.
JOB SUMMARY
TheLibrary Technician welcomes Library visitors at our North Amherst andMunson Memorial Library branches; providing courteous and friendlyassistance with using the Library and Library technology to people ofall ages and from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
Performs computer-based tasks related to loaning Library materials;maintains patron borrowing records; regularly communicates, bothverbally and in writing, with staff and the public. Must be available towork evening and Saturday shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High SchoolDiploma or equivalent, PLUS experience working with various types oflibrary software, such as CWMARS regional system and Evergreencirculation software; OR equivalent combination of education andexperience. Availability to work weekday and Saturday shifts. Experienceworking in a customer service capacity with people of differing ages andbackgrounds Ability to pay close attention to detail, and work withalphabetical and numeric organization. Knowledge of information tools,and an understanding of the changing service environment. Excellenttechnology skills. Proficient customer service skills. Excellent verbaland written communication skills. Ability to communicate with culturalcompetence. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handlestressful situations. Ability to work well as a part of a team andmaintain effective work relationships with co-workers and the generalpublic. Preparedness to encounter challenging interactions andwillingness to learn and seek out solutions with the help of supervisorsand colleagues.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of experienceworking in a library. Knowledge of library practices and procedures.
