Academy Park Librarian and Academy Park Principal Job Summary:
Assist in maintaining an organized, attractive, functional library media center conducive to an integrated instructional program.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist students and staff with locating reference and instructional materials. Assist the Librarian with checking in all books returned by students and teachers. Oversee the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays. Assist the librarian in maintaining proper discipline of students using the library. Maintain files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publishers’ catalogs, computers, etc. Process books including stamping books, typing book cards, putting on jackets and barcodes, etc. and shelving the books. Prepare and send notices to teachers concerning overdue books and collect fines for such books. Perform simple repairs on damaged books and process more severely damaged books for repair. Assist students and teachers on computers, copiers, researching information, and printing procedures. Prepare late passes for students, if needed. Perform lunch, recess, and bathroom duty, if needed. Cover front office staff breaks, if needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of card catalouge systems. Must possess computer skills involving word processing and research. Ability to operate various library equipment and school/office equipment. Ability to courageously lead conversations focused on equity, closing opportunity gaps, and equal access to technology-infused lessons of rigor. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff and administrators, students, parents or guardians, outside agencies, and the public, in a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multilingual environment. Ability to receive and implement feedback to improve practice and systems.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma/GED/equivalent required. Experience working in a library setting desired.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to reach above and below the waist Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion Some bending, stooping and twisting of the body required Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs. Ability to mostly sit with some standing or walking/moving throughout the work environment
Level of Compensation:
This position’s salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff. The starting salary for this role is $18.46/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $18.96/hour. This is a part-time, 10-month position.
