Position:
LIBRARY & RESEARCH COORDINATOR
Overview:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Library and Research Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Calvin E. Pollins Memorial Library in a user-friendly manner, providing assistance to researchers, and preparing reports regarding library use. The work week is Wednesday (Thursday in winter) through Saturday, not to exceed 26 hours.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

Pleasantly greet guests to the library. Maintain a sign-in record of library users. Prepare invoices of copies made for researchers for processing in the Shop. Actively assist researchers or schedule volunteers to do so. Give overview of library, explain rules and finding aids. Help them locate materials. Make copies. Maintain the Calvin E. Pollins Memorial Library according to the established system. Re-shelve books used by researchers. Place new acquisitions. Make progress on inputting books into Past Perfect. Schedule, train, and supervise Library volunteers. Process donations to the collections. Send acknowledgments, maintain records, and prepare lists of these donations for the Newsletter. Coordinate research requests and execute research. Maintain records, prepare invoices, mail reports. Prepare monthly reports of library use, phone calls, volunteers, research requests, outreach programs, and deliver to Executive Director. Maintain record of Antiques & Collectibles dealers and assist with correspondence and phone calls regarding same. Assist with building spreadsheets of information as needed for events. Provide promotional information that can be used for marketing library opportunities. Process bulk mail. Provide back-up support to the Museum Shop, covering same if volunteer is not present. Provide quality customer service and maintain professional demeanor. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with Library procedures. Research experience. Experience with genealogy research a plus. Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor with the public. Strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with computer programs Past Perfect and Outlook or willing to learn them.

$15.00 per hour Expected hours: 18 – 24 per week
