The role of a Reference Associate for Youth Services provides community engagement opportunities through youth services programming; identifies programs of interest to youth and schedule, prepare, and conduct twice weekly story times; promote programming by creating and designing flyers, working with paid performers to complete paperwork, create newsletters and displays that are attractive to patrons. Catalog new unprocessed children’s books, creating MARC records for the library catalog, and physically making them shelf ready. Work within integrated library system software for managing library collection and patron information. Instruct and support patrons in the use and operation of computers, computer applications, patron’s personal devices, library equipment, and library digital resources as necessary to promote and facilitate life-long digital learning. Provide information and reader’s advisory services to patrons at the public Information Desk and by phone, matching the needs of patrons with materials; encourage the use of materials and services through book lists, new book displays, and flyers. This position requires some nights and weekend hours. Minimum Requirements Here is what you need to be considered for the position of Reference Associate –

Youth Services:

A Degree from an accredited college with major course work in Library Science or a related field; supplemented by two (2) years previous experience and/or training in personal computer operations, office management, office administration, customer service, record management, and area of assignment; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. What’s the Next Step?
