QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; master’s degree from accredited university, highly preferred, preferably 5 or more years of teaching experience; valid

Alabama Department of Education Teacher License SALARY:

JOB GOAL

The Academic Interventionist Coach will provide leadership, support, and expertise for the implementation of the literacy and mathematics curricula and facilitate eff01ts with teachers and students to ensure that every student can read and perform mathematically at grade level. The Academic Interventionist Coach will support teachers’ growth and development as well as provide effective, small group intervention instruction and services to students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1 . Provides professional development opportunities in intervention best practices for learning to school based staff. Provides effective, data-driven, and research-based small group, instructional tutoring to tier 2 and tier 3 students in collaboration with general education teachers. Essential roles are intervention coaching and small group instruction. Assumes responsibility and accountability for staff and student improvement in the areas ofELA/Literacy and mathematics instruction. Keeps informed of best practices and new developments related to literacy, math and behavior and share the information with appropriate staff, Participates in on-going and job-embedded professional development such as meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of determining success of literacy/math content knowledge, pedagogy, and coaching. Assists teachers and school-based staff in the facilitation of effective instruction that meets the individual needs of diverse learners by coaching teachers on best instructional practices, monitoring student progress, supporting small group intervention, and adjusting intervention and instructional strategies to make learning accessible for every student. Mentors and coach staff for the purpose of building capacity to teach academic skills to improve ELA/Literacy and mathematic instruction at assigned schools. Willingness to work in multiple schools, as needed, to promote necessary change at the individual student, classroom, school and district level. Communicates knowledge and experience by taking on a leadership role, school wide, when initiatives involve area of expertise. Actively participates on instructional coaching team. Attends building problem solving team meetings when requested. Other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities:

Uses research-based literacy and mathematics Instructional programs and strategies to improve student learning. Works with teachers and instructional coaches to develop, implement, and evaluate, effective interventions to ensure learning is equitable for all students. Models exemplary instructional practices and coaching support connected to the theory of literacy and math to improve student achievement levels. Provides Intervention tutoring and support to small groups of students based on need. Facilitate classroom teacher implementing the assigned intervention(s) with fidelity. Organizes and assist classroom teachers with organizing literacy and mathematics instruction, instructional delivery, including collaboratively planning lessons. Partners with classroom teachers and instructional coaches to design student intervention plans. Works collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, and principals to monitor student progress in literacy and mathematics.
