Academy Elementary School Position Summary:

Coordinate the work of creating a literacy plan that aligns with the Alabama Literacy Act. Provide ongoing literacy and math invention to identified students. Provide coaching and support to assigned grade level teachers.

Candidate Qualifications:

Highly Qualified Teacher Certification Required Certified Academic Language Certification Highly Preferred AMSTI math training Preferred Experience in teaching elementary or early childhood education

Job Function and Responsibilities:

Serve as an Instructional Leader for both literacy and math for assigned grade level(s) and teachers. Be a continual learner in the area of literacy and math. Remain current regarding the latest research regarding best practice(s). Remain current regarding any resources, procedures, and updates surrounding the Alabama Literacy Act and the Alabama Numeracy Act. Provide guidance and assist in keeping student portfolios focusing on the essential standards for literacy and math as outlined in each COS. Provide ongoing coaching and support of assigned grade level teachers both individually and collectively as a team. Assist with the coordination and implementation of screeners, diagnostics, benchmarks, training, point person for the organizational implementation Identify training needs and provide the resources and training needed for a successful collaboration with teachers and effective strategies with students. Create clear and concise communication that may be utilized by the Grade Level Team and parents about the students’ literacy and/or math plan. Facilitate regular grade level data and planning meetings. Provide guidance for teachers around the MTSS process. Develop teacher knowledge and plan differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student. Develop good working relationships with teachers to facilitate being a resource. Work with teachers to identify and address the needs of students based on data from assessments. Demonstrate an understanding of the science of learning and evidence-based best practices. Demonstrate an understanding of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instruction as well as the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process. Have familiarity with coaching and co-teaching models. Observe and model in classrooms to provide feedback to fellows and the teachers the fellows support.
