Stratford High School Description:
Stratford Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dynamic Math Teacher who is experienced in teaching mathematics aligned to the Common Core State Standards of Mathematics to high school students. The ideal candidate should have the ability to build strong relationships with students, create engaging lesson plans for all types of learners, and have a classroom committed to promoting a culture of respect, equity, and inclusivity.
Job Requirements:
Plans data-driven instruction that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, and establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs of capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strives by instruction and action to implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives, and performance expectations. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis; provides progress reports as required, and communicates with parents/guardians as deemed necessary. Diagnoses the learning challenges of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of school and/or district specialists as required. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies district requirements but also satisfies personal expectations as a professional. Attend established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g. Back to School Night, Open House, programs, activities) agreed upon by the building administrator and the faculty consistent with the teachers’ contract. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Connecticut Teaching Certification in Mathematics Bachelor’s degree or higher An understanding of the Common Core Standards of Mathematics Knowledge of current teaching methods and pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction and familiarity with curriculum resources such as Illustrative Mathematics, Ready Math, and Bridges Intervention Demonstrates an understanding and use of equitable and culturally responsive practices
