Part-time Math Interventionist (Non-Union)
Elementary School – Grades (K-5) General Responsibilities Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, the Director of Math/Science Curriculum, and building administration, the responsibilities of this position are solely working with students. The part-time math interventionist is responsible, but not limited to, analyzing assessment data and providing “real time” push-in and/or pull-out research-based interventions in the core curricular area of Math to students receiving interventions that are currently below grade level based analysis of district/state assessment instruments. Essential Performance Responsibilities Gather, organize, and interpret assessment data on students identified for the SRBI process Utilize best practice instructional strategies and SRBI curriculum materials to meet the learning needs of identified students Model the use of intervention strategies; through small group instruction Analyze existing student achievement data and administer student assessments and progress monitoring instruments as needed to aid in progress monitoring of students Provide District Math Director, Math Specialists and Teachers the information from their small group interventions Collaborate with classroom teachers, math specialists, building administrators, and District Directors when designing and planning intervention groups Maintain accurate student records and student progress data reports as required by Title I law and district policy Attend professional development opportunities that promote improved instructional strategies and support researched-based resource material needed to implement the intervention program successfully and support/maintain professional growth Follow district guidelines and policies Maintain proper professional conduct as defined in the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibilities for Teachers Keep in confidence all personal, student, or personnel records and information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Ansonia Public Schools curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, Ansonia Public Schools policies and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process; ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into curriculum; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school based staff, students, parents and community; ability to use diagnostic data to tailor instruction to meet the needs of the student(s); excellent organizational, communication, and human relations skills.

Education and Experience Required certification:

High School Diploma OR Associate’s Degree OR (013 or 305) Elementary Education, K/1-6 Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in current numeracy theory and effective mathematical/teaching practices A thorough knowledge of best practices and standards, including the district’s curricula and the Common Core State Standards, i-Ready Math, Bridges, Greg Tang and/or computer based programs such as IXL, Reflex Math, and/or Khan Academy Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, time management, organizational abilities and communication skills, both orally and written Demonstrated ability to use technology as communication and teaching tools Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education or the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable Terms of Employment Compensation for this position depends on experience.

Associates degree or higher:

$25.00/hour for 25 hours per school week.

High School diploma:
