Job Summary Math teachers are responsible for classroom instruction, providing support, and education to students within the classroom and other assigned areas, and developing lesson plans for the students. Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborate with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and classroom issues that may arise; and respond to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress. Provide academic instruction for high school students, ensuring lesson plans are in line with the curriculum schedule 2. Plan for classroom activities, including the daily lesson plans 3. Identify the materials to implement in classroom activities and prepare class projects 4. Confer with other teachers for peer collaboration 5. Regularly communicate basis about the schedule, assignments, events, and individual student needs 6. Meet with parents during scheduled student/teacher conferences 7. Maintain grades and curriculum online 8. Attend monthly faculty meetings 9. Work with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands-on programs and activities for students and the school 10. Incorporate technology Reports To School Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Teach math, utilizing the course of study adopted by Orlando Science High School and other appropriate curriculum publications intended for teaching in the State of Florida. 2. Develop lesson plans to demonstrate mathematical reading concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids. 3. Provide opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. 4. Support a growth mindset in the classroom including how to learn from mistakes and persevere. 5. Use assessment data to find a student’s readiness level so they can be met where they are and move forward in their learning using feedback effectively. 6. Participate in professional development in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. 7. Design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world. 8. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. 9. Evaluate each student’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills. 10. Supervise daily and check homework, ensure students’ academic progress and serve as a primary point of contact for parents. 11. Regularly assess student mastery of key skills and concepts and use this data to differentiate instruction to meet student needs. 12. Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities. 13. Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator(s) to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. 14. Achieve course and school-wide student performance goals. 15. Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed. 16. Administer, gather, assess, and grade assessments, classwork, assignments, and essays. 17. Administer standardized assessments. 18. Maintain mandatory records, such as attendance records, grades, and progress reports. 19. Appraise each student’s progress in meeting the course standards. 20. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. 21. Create and sustain standards of student behavior needed to support a disciplined, productive, and safe classroom environment. 22. Demonstrate compassion to students, and parents, and foster student self-esteem. 23. Communicate with parents to ensure parents’ involvement in their child’s development. 24. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
