Responsibilities:

Use appropriate teaching, testing, and grading techniques. Demonstrate current knowledge of the subject area. Use effective written and oral communication skills. Maintain educational records. Develop curriculum and Blackboard course shells. Use technology and learning management systems appropriate to the subject taught. Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Assist with student recruitment, retention, advisement, and placement; advisory committee meetings and fulfillment of accreditation requirements. Advise/Counsel students on a regular basis and maintain appropriate advisement records. Provide necessary support and assistance to students outside of class by maintaining office hours/access. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in mathematics or related field with at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics . Graduate hours in math education, teaching, or statistics are not sufficient. Proven proficiency with computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Office and mathematics applications software. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings when needed, with minimal supervision. Ability to travel to multiple campuses, including high school and career academy sites. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three (3) years of experience teaching college-level mathematics courses. Previous teaching experience and experience using MyMathLab or MyOpenMath. Experience working with diverse student populations, especially in technical or community colleges.
