POSITION SUMMARY:
This is specialized, professional work as a teacher who provides well-designed learning activities for the cadets to promote intellectual, emotional and social growth; providing goals for cadet learning and effective cadet participation in all class activities; taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect cadets, equipment, materials and facilities. Work involves the planning and development of curricula and syllabi, which either meets or exceeds the academic needs of the cadets in a college preparatory environment. Ability to assist and evaluate cadets to encourage and challenge growth and intellectual curiosity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The preparation, performance, and follow-up of classroom teaching/activities. Interact with cadets to encourage, inspire, challenge, discuss, share, clarify, articulate, reflect, and assess, and to celebrate growth and diversity. Accessibility for night study hall, tutorial assistance, and meetings with cadets and parents for education-related issues. Maintain accurate and complete records for each cadet to assess progress and accomplishments. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as assigned. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Assist in fulfilling obligations for extra-curricular activities including the athletic program. Supervise cadets in a chaperone capacity when requested by the Activities Director. Act as a role model and mentor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in the specific subject area. Postgraduate work in the same subject or related field, earning a master’s degree within five years. Must possess a valid certification in the subject area to be taught. Three to five years of experience in classroom teaching in secondary education. Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, or political affiliation.
