40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee’s supplement is the employee’s salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and certified High School Math Teacher to join our team.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic High School Math Teacher to teach a variety of mathematics courses, including Algebra I, Geometry, and/or Algebra II, to students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics, an ability to make complex concepts accessible, a passion for teaching, the ability to engage students in hands-on learning experiences, and a commitment to helping students build confidence and proficiency in math.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons that align with state standards and school curriculum. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback. Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement cross-curricular projects and initiatives. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school administration. Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular activities as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Valid LA teaching certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsements. Strong knowledge of high school mathematics curriculum and instructional best practices. Experience in teaching high school students (preferred, but not required). Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Excellent attendance record. Passion for teaching and inspiring students to develop a love for math.
