Job Description

Instruction:

1.Create and maintain a stimulating physical classroom environment conducive to learning.
2.Establish and implement efficient classroom management procedures.
3.Continually evaluate and record various aspects and indicators of student’s progress.
4.Demonstrate competency in his/her area of training and assignment.
5.Plan lessons effectively; show evidence of daily and long-term planning.
6.Make provisions for individual differences.
7.Encourage the development of independent work habits.
8.Use appropriate language for students to model.
9.Use varied and appropriate instructional techniques to accomplish instructional objectives.
10.Implement the curriculum as prescribed by the school district.
11.Help students evaluate their own work.
12.Communicate clearly, using precise language and acceptable oral expressions.
13.Monitor a student’s understanding of lessons and adjust teaching when appropriate.
14.Encourage a positive atmosphere for all students.
15.Demonstrate a positive attitude.
16.Work to help students acquire a positive self-image.

Professional Relationships:

1.Encourage a respect for opinions, rights, property, and contributions of others.
2.Communicate and maintain a working relationship with parents.
3.Maintain confidentiality with respect to students, their performance, and their records.
4.Is regularly available for extra-help sessions.
5.Cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students resolve attitude, behavior, and learning problems.
6.Leave clear and complete lessons and instructions for substitutes.
7.Participate in the evaluation and revision of curriculum.

Professional Development:

1.Continually evaluate his/her own behavior and performance as a teacher.
2.Participate actively in a professional development program.
3.Explore new teaching techniques as alternatives to better accomplish predetermined instructional objectives, including the use of educational technology.
4.Perform non-instructional duties.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Observe the designated working hours.
2.Perform in accordance with school committee and building policies and regulations, as well as the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3.Perform non-instructional duties as assigned.
4. Actively participate in and contribute to the schools’ extracurricular programs
