Job Description
STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley. Located at 201Brotherton Lane in Ferguson, Missouri. STEAM High is committed to challenging students to achieve academic excellence and personal success by providing state-of-the-art instruction and a challenging curriculum within a warm, caring environment in partnership with dedicated parents, staff and community.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

High School Math teacher works in classrooms with students of all grades. You will impart required mathematics curricula to your students, which will include helping them to prepare for standardized tests and college entrance exams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Bestowing students with arithmetic and problem-solving skills is one of the main duties of a math teacher.
Respect for the uniqueness of each individual learner.
Ability to meet the individual need of all students to allow for growth and development.
Ability to convey information to students through written and verbal communications.
Ability to encourage student ownership of behavior.
Follow guidelines of the Ferguson-Florissant School District math curriculum and resources to create lesson plans and activities for students that include both hands on and written work.
Provide direct instruction in an environment that furthers students’ interests in math and to support increased engagement in math.
Credentials in (or willingness to become credentialed) in IB, AP, and/or Dual Credit mathematics courses.
Conduct Project Based Learning and real world math investigations during classes to provide students with a hands on learning experience.
Trained or willing to be trained in STEM, Project Based Learning, PLTW and other supplemental credentials.
Communicate with parents, advisors, and students on a regular basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A valid Missouri professional teaching certificate in the grade level range and subject area assigned.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with emphasis in an educational subject area
Ability to apply instructional strategies to help students develop strong academic vocabulary in algebra concepts.
Experience teaching algebra.
Understanding and ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

Planning, developing and executing lessons that reflect the curriculum and the state’s core educational standards.
Adapting mathematics curriculum for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students.
Evaluating the academic and social growth of students
Evaluating student progress and the ability to meet course standards in mathematical knowledge and skills.
Establishing and maintain standards of student behavior.
Planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines.
Employing a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing students, including demonstrations, discussions, and lectures
Utilizing educational equipment, such as materials, books, and other learning aids.
Meet the state high school standards for high school math End of Course Exams.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
