POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) for Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) serves as the department chair and is responsible for coordinating with senior school officials and Headquarters (HQ) AFJROTC personnel to establish procedures relating to the administration, control, and education of students enrolled in the AFJROTC program. The SASI is also actively involved in educating, mentoring, and leading extra-curricular activities as directed by
HQ AFJROTC. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Must hold AFJROTC Instructor Certification.
Must be honorably retired from the United States Air Force in the grade of 0-3 to 0-6 within the past five years OR active guard or reserve with 10 years of experience and in the grade of 0-3 to 0-6.
Experience working with youth preferred.
Experience working with youth and culturally diverse groups.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues.
Must be able to collaborate effectively with school and headquarters personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Excellent organization and leadership skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all regulatory guidelines provided by
HQ AFJROTC.
Provides comprehensive educational instruction to students enrolled in the AFJROTC program.
Assess and documents student leadership skills and AFJROTC academic skills.
Develops and implements instructional lesson plans utilizing lesson plan and curriculum materials provided by
HQ AFJROTC.
Maintains documentation of student progress.
Implements instructional strategies that reflect the Mississippi Performance Standards.
Complies with the requirements outlined in the AFJROTC Curriculum Plan.
Collaborates with general education staff, special education staff, guidance counselors, and school administrators as needed, to maximize program effectiveness.
Performs administrative and logistical tasks related to AFJROTC program management.
Maintains technical proficiency in the administrative, logistical, and cadet data components of the WINGS database system.
Maintains fundraising accountability as required by school and District policies.
Coordinate with all AFJROTC department personnel to plan, organize, and conduct AJROTC extracurricular and co-curricular activities to meet the requirement established by AFJROTC.
Maintains a presence in the classroom and in outside training areas.
Presents instruction following lesson plans contained in
HQ AFJROTC
curriculum super-store.
Sets the example regarding personal appearance including wearing the prescribed uniforms and civilian clothing.
Conducts authorized fundraising projects to generate additional revenues to support the AFJROTC program. Guidelines established by the Madison County Schools District.
Maintains the inventory of all equipment and uniforms.
Completes and submits all forms and paperwork required by HQ AFJROTC and the Madison County School District.
Agrees to fulfill performance responsibilities in location(s) assigned.
Complies with local, state, and federal rules an regulations.
Performs such other tasks as may be assigned within the parameters of the job analysis.
