TEACHER, MATH, GRADE 6
Qualifications Valid and current certification in Math 7-12 (154) Three years teaching experience in middle school Math or high school Math Mentoring, coaching, or experience leading professional development desirable Ability to use technology as both an instructional tool and as a productivity tool Good interpersonal skills to share proven instructional approaches with teachers and administrators Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong organizational and leadership skills Commitment to continuous professional learning Knowledge of and commitment to implementation of all components of district’s literacy initiative Reports To Building Principal Essential Functions Serves as mentor and coach for other Math teachers Assists schools in the administration of initial and on-going district and state assessments Makes provision for being available to students, parents, and other teachers for education and professional development purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms Participates in regular instructional leadership team and problem solving meetings with teachers and principals Attends all mathematics professional development and meetings for updates and growth, and shares information with principal and math teachers Provides systematic feedback and data to administrators and other stakeholders about the progress schools are making towards district goals in mathematics achievement Facilitates mathematics study groups via grade level teams that support horizontal and vertical teaming Analyzes school level progress monitoring data for the purpose of identifying the level of support needed by the teachers Shares effective mathematics instructional strategies with new teachers and provides support Provides and coordinates on-site mathematics professional development at meetings based on school-diagnosed needs, teacher needs, and the directions from the principal and district Assists grade-level teams in collecting and analyzing mathematics assessment results, identifying areas for improvement, and planning and adjusting mathematics instruction Shares information with other math coaches about the work of the school Assists math teachers with developing an implementation schedule for classrooms, making instructional decisions about space and organization of mathematics materials Assists with coordinating and implementing mathematics instructional time, pacing, and the district-assessment schedule requirements Conducts Pre-Post Conferences with math teachers and observes math teachers and then assist them in improving instruction-based on data Surveys math teachers for next steps and needed mathematics instructional materials Meets with the principal on a regular basis to discuss classroom observations and coordinates support for teachers Performs side-by-side math teaching and model math lessons as required Maintains all required documentation Inventory and monitors classroom mathematics materials; orders replacement material if needed Performs other related duties as requested or assigned Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
