JOB DESCRIPTION
- Conduct consultations with students regarding their instructional support needs
- Develop plans to best support students who need instructional support
- Mentor students struggling in their courses with a specific emphasis on those in the first-semester experience cohorts
- Aid in updating records of student visits and the work accomplished in each student session
- Report to instructors the attendance records of all students attending tutoring at the ISC as well as progress made through instructional support sessions
- Meet with instructors to understand what concepts will be taught, to discern the method each instructor uses for teaching each concept, to recognize concepts that the students most struggle with and to utilize faculty calendars
- Prepare semester reports detailing the number of students attending instructional support and the classes represented
- Mentor and advise students regarding up-to-date academic matters and those relating to student success as well as college services
- Schedule and maintain office hours according to college policy
- Maintain a safe environment conducive to student learning
- Participate in staff meetings, serve on committees and participate in other college-related activities
- Maintain professional growth and development to foster scholarly development according to college needs
- Maintain professional working relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration while adhering to the highest standards of respect for the rights of others
- Ensure confidentiality of student records to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Teach courses as requested by the college
- Perform other duties consistent to the position as requested by the Director of Instructional Support Services and the Vice President of Instructional Services
