High School Equivalency (HSE) Math Instructor (Part-Time) 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Polkton, NC The Adult Basic Education/High School Equivalency (ABE/HSE) Instructor position is a part-time, position located at the Monroe campus of SPCC. The instructional focus is to assist adult students in acquiring literacy and numeracy skills necessary to successfully reach educational goals for purposes of self-improvement, credential attainment, workforce readiness or transition to post-secondary educational opportunities. Essential Duties Summary Provide research-based educational opportunities for adult learners with diverse educational needs Teach meaningful, relevant, and aligned content to students who are preparing for the final exams to earn the high school equivalency credential Develop high-quality lesson plans aligned to the NCCCS College and Career Readiness Adult Education Content Standards Contextualize educational opportunities to include employability and soft skills development Manage instruction with computer-based learning platforms Cultivate a positive, collegial, and collaborative learning environment in the classroom Maintain required documentation and paperwork to adhere to program deadlines Adhere to departmental and institutional policies and procedures Other duties as assigned by the Director of High School Equivalency and the Dean of the School of College and Career Readiness Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution Ability to teach high-school level math concepts Minimum of one year teaching experience Experience developing lesson plans Proficient use of technology to support classroom instruction Preferred Qualifications Minimum of one year teaching adult learners Experience developing ABE/HSE curriculum Physical Demands Special Conditions Eligibility Summary Eeo Statement Summary South Piedmont Community College provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees based on job related criteria without reference to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected classification.
