Job Description
EC Teacher, High School Math Bradford Preparatory School 2502 Salome Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28262 We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Exceptional Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction in math for students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will be skilled in creating individualized education plans (IEPs), utilizing evidence-based interventions, and fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment. This role requires a teacher who can work collaboratively with general education teachers, families, and staff to ensure student success and growth in foundational academic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Student Support Deliver specialized instruction in math tailored to the needs of students with exceptionalities, ensuring alignment with IEP goals. Use evidence-based strategies and interventions to address diverse learning needs. Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for assigned students, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet evolving needs. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for IEPs, progress monitoring, and parent communication.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with general education teachers to provide support, co-teach, and adapt curriculum for inclusion settings. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for home support. Collaborate with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to ensure comprehensive support for students.
Professional Development & Compliance:
Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in exceptional education and intervention strategies. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including IDEA and ADA. Contribute to a positive school culture by participating in staff meetings, school events, and team initiatives.
Experience & Skills:
Experience teaching math to high-school aged students, preferably within an exceptional education setting. Strong skills in IEP development, data collection, and progress monitoring. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with students with diverse needs, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities. Training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques. Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for students with exceptional needs. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
