This position will predominantly work with Middle School, but may have flexibility as an Upper School position for the right candidate. The major responsibility of the position is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program according to the guidelines provided by the O’Neal School curriculum which guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Have knowledge of, uphold, model, and communicate the mission of The O’Neal School. Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons appropriate to each class. Assess, record, and report on the development and progress of students. Stay abreast of developments in the field through reading, research, and professional development, including faculty development days. Liaise and collaborate with colleagues, including Division Head, Department Head, fellow teachers, counselor, and other resources. Participate in sponsorship of student extracurricular activities.
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on math. Master’s preferred. Previous experience teaching math at the middle school and/or upper school level. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills related to interactions with students, parents, and fellow teachers. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Attention to detail, strong organization skills, and an adherence to timeliness.
