Major Responsibilities Adjuncts are assigned a maximum of 9 credit hours and are responsible for all aspects of the courses assigned. Class days vary and start times range between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. As of the date of the job posting, there are two courses for which adjunct instructors may be needed: MAT 109 Survey of Mathematics (3 credit hours)
Survey of Mathematics is designed to give the liberal arts student not majoring in mathematics or science an appreciation of mathematics with an emphasis on problem solving as it relates to the individual topics. Core topics will include choices from the following: number sequences, graph theory, introductory statistics, financial math, and probability. The course will include projects relevant to both the topics in the course and the student’s field of interest or study. MAT167 Quantitative Skills for Health Sciences (2 credit hours + 1 hour lab)
An emphasis on the application of basic arithmetic skills and dimensional analysis as they relate to health science. Topics include medication dosages, measurement systems, IV calculations, scientific notation, significant digits, and numeracy. Laboratory is used for hands-on applications of developed skills. Educational Requirements The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related subject area. Demonstrated commitment to a student-centered classroom environment that values learning, excellence, fairness, freedom of inquiry, integrity, and the integration of technology (TI-84+ graphing Calculator) is required. Applicants must also have experience incorporating various learning styles into their instruction. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required. Salary Adjuncts’ salary is based on the number of contract hours per semester, remunerated at the rate of $1185 per contract hour in a semester Employment Type
