POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Dean of Math and Sciences and the Department Head of Mathematics, the full-time faculty member has as their chief duty the instruction of freshman and sophomore level mathematics courses. Mathematics faculty teach classes that are scled during the day or evening, taught in a variety of formats (online asynchronous, on-ground, and virtual synchronous) and at several different locations, including off-campus sites and local high schools. The faculty member is expected to facilitate the classroom instructional process, evaluate students, monitor andmunicate progress to students and to the appropriate college staff members, utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) and appropriate onlinecational systems (ALEKS, MyLab Math, MyOpenMath, etc.), assign mid-term and final grades, maintain attendance and grade records, counsel and advise students regarding academic preparation and career goals, work to retain students, maintain required classroom, office, student and Math Center hours, and provide out-of-class academic assistance to students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation Serve as a member of the Mathematics Department within the Math and Sciences Division for the Teaching Excellence strategic theme of the College’s Strategic Plan. In this role, the faculty member is responsible for the following:
Course and Curriculum Development:
Select texts, supplemental documents, supplies, and other learning resources, including Open Educational Resources (OER); develop supplemental instructional materials; use current technology in preparation, creation, and delivery of instruction Create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi
Professional Growth:
Remain current within the field of assigned instruction, related occupational areas and technologies Acquire, maintain, and kledge of current instructional methodologies and materials Attend scled college, divisional, and departmental professional development and in-service activities, and participate in the annual faculty evaluation process Service to
Students:
Respect the rights of students and access tocational opportunities Assist in recruitment, selection, orientation, and evaluation of potential students Assist in formal and informal placement activities for employment and/or transfer to four-year institutions Support student activities Service to the
College and Community:
Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned Participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes Support and participate in college/division/departmentmittees,anizations, and/or task force groups to make rmendations in the College’s decision-making processes Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues Strengthen relationships between the college and themunity throughmunity outreach activities Attend required college, division, and department meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
An earned Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics or Statistics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching Mathematics courses in the department including Learning Support, Number Concepts for Teachers, Geometry Concepts for Teachers, College Algebra, Precalculus Algebra, Precalculus Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. Preference for candidates with previousmunity college teaching experience and experience working with diverse populations.
