Tuskegee, AL Position Summary:

The Extended Learning Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing engaging academic and enrichment activities for students participating in after-school or extended day programs. The teacher will provide additional academic support, including homework assistance and targeted instruction, while also creating an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes social-emotional growth and a love for learning. The Extended Learning Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and program staff to ensure that all students achieve success beyond the regular school day.

Alabama professional teacher certificate (professional leadership certificate preferred) Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field Fingerprint clearance with the Alabama State Department of Education prior to the start date

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities that reinforce core academic skills in alignment with school curriculum and student needs Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students needing additional support in subjects such as math, reading, and writing Assist students with homework and provide academic enrichment activities to enhance learning Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities Create and maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment Establish clear expectations for student behavior and apply consistent discipline in accordance with program policies Promote positive student interactions and foster social-emotional development through team-building and cooperative learning activities Collaborate with extended learning staff and school personnel to coordinate instructional efforts and align after-school activities with school-day learning objectives Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and participation Help design and implement enrichment activities that include arts, STEM, physical fitness, and other extracurricular components Track and monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress Provide feedback on student performance and adjust instruction to meet individual needs Prepare and submit any required reports or documentation on student outcomes and program effectiveness Ensure student safety and supervise students during all program activities Follow district and school policies and procedures, including child protection guidelines Ensure proper care of program materials, supplies, and equipment Participate in professional development opportunities and trainings related to extended learning and effective teaching practices Stay informed about current trends and research in education, after-school programs, and child development Performs other duties as assigned by school administrators and district administrators
